Egypt, the land of mysteries and intrigue has captured my imagination for most
of my life.  My interest in Egyptian Cosmology and the Ancient Mystery Schools
had prompted me to finally make the journey here, although my fascination
probably started as a child, looking at old photos of the Pyramids that my father
had taken many years ago.
I thought of my father as I was riding a camel on the Giza Plateau looking at the
Pyramids trying to imagine what he had felt  when he first saw these amazing
structures..
After a quiet ride behind the Pyramids we approached the Sphinx and I was
jolted out of my contemplation with the sight of hundreds of people and tour
buses.  Welcome to the present!

The
Sphinx (Tefnut) as the wisdom keepers call her was actually a bit smaller
than I had imagined but absolutely magnificent.  Egyptologist and Author Robert
Bauval after many years of research discovered that the Sphinx is in direct
alignment with the Orion Belt.  We were fortunate to have him speak with us
about his work and learn more about Egyptian Cosmology.

On the day before the Spring Equinox, with much anticipation we entered the
Great Pyramid for our private entrance into the Kings Chamber.  It was an
amazing feeling  entering this ‘wonder of the world’ climbing up the steep steps
of the Ascending Passage and Grand Gallery to the Kings Chamber, wondering
about all the people that had come before me, sensing the energy and
magnificence and feeling so honoured to be there.  The climb up was not as
claustrophobic as I thought it would be, and after about 10minutes  we entered
the Kings Chamber.  After settling in, the lights were turned off and we started
‘toning’ chanting Om and hearing the vibration of the sound.  During the
meditation we each took turns to lie in the Sarcophagus for a few minutes.

The Great Pyramid still holds one of the greatest mysteries of all time.  There
have been Egyptologists, Cosmologists, Archeologists, Mathematicians,
Engineers and still no-one can say exactly the purpose of the Pyramid was.  It is
thought that the Great Pyramid was built for Khufu (Cheops) around 2580 BC,
however the Khemitian Wisdom Keepers believe it is much older.

In Aswan we visited the
Temple of Isis at Philae at sunrise.  Isis was one of the
most important deities in Egypt  as she was worshipped almost universally by all
Egyptians. As the major Goddess of the Egyptian pantheon, with many of the
same attributes of other Mother Goddesses found all over the world, She was
revered as the Great Protector, prayed to for guidance, and beseeched for
peace in the world.

After a moonlight visit to
Luxor Temple that evening we started the next day on
the 2 hour journey by road to
Abydos.  This was an amazing experience, just
sitting in the bus listening to the beautiful and haunting Egyptian music and
looking out at the countryside knowing that the daily life of survival, looking after
goats and sheep has been much the same since biblical times.    It touched my
soul, and brought up unexplainable emotions.
Abydos is another interesting temple, where ancient Egyptians were required to
make a pilgrimage here at least once in their lifetimes.    One of the most
intriguing hieroglyphs on the ceiling depicts what appear to be a helicopter,
eagle and submarine, providing one with intrigue and speculation.  Behind the
Temple is the
awesome and ancient Osireion.  The huge granite rocks
weighing more than 200 tons, built without mortar, reminded me of the wall
structures of Sacsayhuan in Peru.   On one of the pillars in the temple we could
see the ancient symbol of the Flower of Life, which according to Sacred
Geometry is the building block of all life.   Back in the temple we sat for a
beautiful meditation followed by Yousef our Wisdom Keeper Guide playing an
indigenous flute.  It was such a joy to just ‘be’ and listen to the beautiful sound
echoing through the temple.

Before heading back to Cairo we visited
Dendera – this magnificent temple is
dedicated to the Neter Hathor.  She became the Neter of Motherhood, and was
also known as the Protector of Dance and was associated with percussive
music, in particular the sistrum.   Also known as ‘the Lourdes of ancient Egypt’ in
ancient times the temple was a healing centre and sacred place of Initiation into
the mysteries of male/female balance and sensual love.    Here we visited a
crypt with amazing panels on the walls inviting more mystery and intrigue as
there are many controversial theories surrounding them.  Some think this light
bulb like object depict some form of ancient energy.   In one of the upper rooms
we viewed the replica of the famous
Dendera Zodiac (original now in the
Louvre) one of the most well known sacred calendar in the world.  It shows the
positions of the stars and planets as they would have been seen at 50BCE and
projects its messages forward to 2216 CE!

It is hard to decide the main highlights of this trip as it was all awe inspiring.  As I
sat in the village at the Giza Plateau  with the Pyramids in the background
looking out at the activity on the street seeing camels pass by, sometimes
galloping horses, cars, motor bikes, horses and buggies, vans all navigating
around each other in orderly chaos I thought that there was nowhere else in the
world I could see all this at once.

If you plan on visiting Egypt I recommend you do it sooner than later.  There are
rumors that the Government plan on building a train that will take tourists around
the perimeter of the Pyramids which means you will no longer be able to get up
close, and that would take away from your experience.  .

Boarding our boat we sailed on the Nile from Aswan
to Luxor with a couple of stops along the way and
an afternoon to relax on deck.

Our first day in Luxor was spent at the huge
Temple of Karnak.  We were the first ones there
which was very special.  We arrived at sunrise and
enjoyed the powerful energies of Sekmets Chapal.
Sekmet is one of the oldest of the Neters.  Her
name means ‘Mighty One’ .  She holds the ‘Shakti’
power as a healer, bringer of justice and as a
guardian or protector.
